I doubt most of their followers on Twitter actually listen to the station (not that I assume you follow them mind you) considering they had 368,766 fans two days ago and throughout this incident have still managed to gain followers and are at 377,319 today.

While there are still enough people who feel that what they did was excusable and tune in, Optus have no reason to kill their sponsorship. Their target audience obviously doesn't have a problem with it so why should they? Don't get me wrong, I don't like this, but why will Optus care if a bunch of Tweeple - who don't listen to the station in the first place - think they should stop advertising with 2DayFM.

As someone who hasn't bought Nike as a personal protest since my year 9 geography class, I completely understand the idea of making a stand no matter what the impact, I just think in this case we should be aiming for an impact. Does that make sense?

Crap I said I wasn't going to give this tool Sandipants anymore attention. Stop me!!!

Hi Mandi, I think someone has already started a Facebook group to that effect. I don't listen to 2Day FM, so me turning off won't make much difference! I am an Optus customer though, so I can effect change that way.

Optus and 2DayFM will both listen if we turn the radio off. Start a campaign to boycott 2DayFM for an entire day, that will send a much louder message than a trending Twitter hashtag.

No worries, it's a fairly new account. They've only had it for a few weeks.
